MOON WATER

- Sara Nuytemans

Moon Water is an audiovisual installation by Artist Sara Nuytemans, designed to activate the Alpha-Theta waves, from 7Hz to 13 Hz, in the brain of the visitor. This range of Alpha-Theta waves is believed to be optimal for bringing inspiration and possibly insights, for having a better connection with one’s inner world and therefore being more in harmony with the other world.

We know about the power of the moon towards the water, as this is tangible relating to the tides. But the artist also engages with a complex body of beliefs developed by ancient philosophical traditions around the Moon, not so tangible as western science would like it to be. In fact, creating Moon Water under the Full Moon, absorbing its powers, is a practice common to several traditions across the world.

“The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others. It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What another body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore? The moon is faithful to its nature and its power is never diminished.” ―Deng Ming-Dao
